Cincinnati, Ohio
Cincinnati is Ohio’s third largest city and in 2006 had an estimated population of over 332,200. Cincinnati was officially founded in 1788 by John Cleves Symmes and was originally named Losantiville. In 1790, it was claimed by Arthur St. Clair who changed the name to Cincinnati for the Society of the Cincinnati. This particular society was founded in honor of George Washington. In 1802 it was chartered as a village and then officially incorporated as a city in 1819. Cincinnati played a major role in the civil war as a source of supplies and troops for the Union.
There are many things to see while in Cincinnati including the Carew Tower & Observation Deck, the Cincinnati Observatory Center, Fountain Square, John A. Roebling Suspension Bridye and the Spring Grove Cemetary and Arboretum. For cultural arts visit the American Classical Music Hall of Fame, Art Beyond Boundaries, Cincinnati Art Museum, Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Contemporary Arts Center, and Harriet Beecher Stowe House.
